Dental Assistant Program Overview

The Dental Assistant Program at Chattanooga College Medical, Dental & Technical Careers (MDTC) prepares students for entry-level roles in professional dental settings through hands-on Dental Assistant training.

This hybrid Dental Assistant program combines classroom instruction, lab practice, and a supervised externship. Students develop skills in chairside assisting, radiography, patient care, infection control, and dental office procedures in a supportive Dental Assistant school environment.

Classes cover Dental Anatomy, Radiography, Chairside Assisting, Infection Control, and Patient Communication. Students gain hands-on experience in sterilization, lab work, and assisting with procedures such as fillings, crowns, and impressions.

You’ll also complete a supervised externship, applying your Dental Assistant training in a 

real dental office before graduation. Externship placements are supervised and coordinated 

by the institution and are subject to availability at approved clinical sites.
